24/02/26 - What are we testing?

Yesterday I took a day off the bike to recover from the Schwalbe test and prepare for the test with Stoutman and Olly this week. We are still in San Remo, Italy, but this time testing on one of the roughest, harshest tracks in Europe called ‘scogli rossi’ ,it is extremely physical and not the most fun lol. I did 10 runs today, 9 full. I will post a GoPro and some clips later in the week :)

Very interesting to see the outcome of Carbon vs aluminium rims. What spokes do you use for your wheels?

22/02/26 - GoPro & Test Run Times

Here’s a GoPro run from today’s test track also in San Remo Italy. Today I did 18 laps, again back to back, blind testing different front tyres with the Schwalbe engineers. We tested different casings, tread patterns and tyre widths. It’s incredible the extent Schwalbe go to when testing product, which I believe ultimately enables them to bring the best tyres to market.

A screenshot from my last 8 run times, timed with Freelap timing system: It's important for me to be as consistent as possible with my runs so that the differences in the tyre changes are most noticeable.

If there are any specific insights you are most interested in going forward, be sure to let me know in the comments and I'll see what I can do! :)

Hi Benno :) This is a great question and was a large part of our conversations whiles testing, this is why having the timing on was so important. There was a prototype tyre that always felt lively, unsettled and twitchy to ride, and as a rider you had to be so alert as it was very easy to make mistakes with it on, but it often delivered the fastest times. So it was a higher risk reward tyre, whereas some tyres like the full radial tyre i was testing felt incredibly comfy, grippy, consistent and overall felt like the nicer tyre to ride but would often be a half second or so slower. It’s a very interesting topic and one I am currently learnign a lot more about

22/02/26 - Trackside Slo Mo

We use trackside clips like this as a form of feedback alongside my rider feedback to better see how the tyre is interacting with the ground.

Awesome footage. Question, the nukeproof is a similar design to the Myst I use currently, and I struggle with pedal kickback. I notice you use an OChain, so, did you notice kickback for adding the OChain and did it make a big difference after fitting it?

21/02/26 - Schwalbe Testing Intro

Day 1 of Testing with Schwalbe in San Remo, Italy.

Mille was supposed to join me on this camp but is still recovering from her broken collar bone from Hardline. Juanfer is still recovering from his ACL injury from last year and most our other riders are in New Zealend so it is just me on this test with Schwalbe, and I feel very spoilt by them.

Today I did 17runs on a 50s section of track so we could be incredibly detailed with the procedure and make lots of quick changes.
